ARRIVE 1 HOUR BEFORE EVERY SCHEDULED EVENT

Arriving @ Escape The Space
[ ] Clock in, via the register iPad in the Staging Area (code 5555), using your 4 digit pin within the SQUARE app.
[ ] Make sure the kiosks are set up and keyboards are awake.
[ ] Lights get turned on (fireplace button and light switches in staging area; light strands switch in office).
[ ] Power on the TV in the Staging Area.
[ ] Check the HVAC…Make it comfortable but never HOT as rooms get extremely warm during gameplay. Summer, cool to 69 when arriving and cool to 75 when leaving. Winter, heat to 69 when arriving and heat to 65 when leaving. (Units in Staging Area and Room #2)
[ ] Start music for the Staging Area using the selfie phone. (Passcode: 555555) On Google Play, cast chillhop essentials to “Before & After”.
[ ] Connect the needed escape room tech and gather clipboard(s).
[ ] Open all room doors (Remember #4 room is the staging area access point door only) while heating, or cooling, the facility in order to give some overall balance.
[ ] Get room(s) ready for your team(s) to arrive. (Locks, keys, wall is clear, & lock boxes...etc) - look at the CHECKFRONT app to verify room size and details. X - Puzzles if needed.
[ ] Check bathrooms, staging area, entryway, hallway, & escape room(s) to ensure they are clean, vacuumed, swept, stocked, etc.
[ ] Once setup is complete (about 30 minutes) move to the entryway and be ready to park and greet clients. (SMILE)
As Clients Arrive
[ ] Greet clients in the parking lot and help them park.
[ ] Escort/direct them to the sign in kiosks in the Staging Area and make sure the keyboards are ready.
[ ] Make visitors feel welcomed (smile) and encourage a fun atmosphere. Let them know about the restrooms and games/lobby items accessible. Try not to overstep or over engage. Read the group and adjust accordingly. ✊
[ ] Set up the selfie stick & inform clients it is available for their own personal use. Take a group themed selfie.
10 Minutes or less, prior to the intro:
[ ] Offer final restroom opportunity
[ ] Point clients to the lockers JUST PRIOR to gathering them to sit.
[ ] If applicable, present and record the birthday wheel.
Explaining the Game
[ ] Locate the chalkboard wall. It’s your puzzle wall and notepad for the game. Feel free to write on it but nothing else in the room.
[ ] The wall is divided into sections. Each section represents a puzzle.
[ ] The top of each section provides a color which represents the title of your puzzle(s) (Yellow, Red, Blue and/or Green) - depending on the room size.
[ ] The # located next to the color represents the number of clues for that specific puzzle.
[ ] WHAT ARE CLUES? Clues are items with colored stickers. The sticker colors match the puzzle titles.
[ ] Clues will be hidden… where they are found does not matter.
[ ] At the base of each puzzle is a tub called The Clue Box. This is for collecting clues & keeping organized.
[ ] If anything is written or pinned to the puzzle wall, it is intended for THAT puzzle.
[ ] Each puzzles ends with opening its final lock box located at the base of of each puzzle section.
[ ] Once all puzzles are solved, the contents from the final lock boxes will combine to be one final puzzle for the group to solve and Escape The Space.
[ ] Magnifying glasses can be used for 2 kinds of help: locating 3 clues or help with puzzle logic.
[ ] To use magnifying glasses...Hold one up the 1st time, 2 up the 2nd, 3 up for the 3rd.
[ ] RULES: Do not remove anything mounted or pinned to walls. Do not move furniture. Do not cheat (prying things out of boxes or guessing combinations).
[ ] How to Win? All escapees MUST be out of the room prior to the clock hitting zero. If ANY APPENDAGE is in the room when the timer hits zero, their team loses!
[ ] In case of emergency, there is an emergency exit in the room.
[ ] “Are there any questions?” “Are you sure?”
Starting the Escape
[ ] Have all participants grab a blindfold and sanitize their hands.
[ ] Line the team up in the hallway on the opposite wall of the room they will enter. Tell them to put on their blindfolds and grab the shoulders of the person in front of them.
[ ] Ask the line leader if you can grab their forearms. When they say yes, lead them into the room. Once in the room tell them to KEEP BLINDFOLDS ON and drop their hands.
[ ] Grab the countdown remote/device & read the room theme.
[ ] Countdown from 10 while walking out of the room.
[ ] When out of the room with about 2 seconds remaining, start the timer in the hallway. Close the door after the count of 1 and clearly, loudly, state…”You have one hour to escape the space...good luck”.
Reasonably communicative and responsive to work communications.
RUNNING ROOMS
[ ] ALWAYS BE POLITE & NEVER SPEAK NEGATIVELY ABOUT CLIENTS, even if you think they can’t hear you!
[ ] Watch the room, not your phone! These people WILL need your help and attention.
[ ] Walk to your room at least twice in the game to get a real view of the clients and their expressions.
[ ] Encourage magnifying glasses if needed...only suggest it and never get upset if they decline.
[ ] Use the clipboard and make notes of any issues.
[ ] Mute your headset anytime you're not actively communicating.
When the Game Ends (WIN OR LOSE)
[ ] Win-or-Lose meet escapees at the door with an engaged smile and encourage the team's efforts...making sure to point out their successes within the room.
[ ] TIME PERMITTING: Offer to walk folks through the logic of any puzzles they weren't able to work or solve.
[ ] BEFORE EXITING: Ask teams to check, & empty, all pockets (leaving all clues, keys, and blindfolds behind)
[ ] Enter the staging area and encourage teams to grab signs, pillows, masks...etc and meet at the fireplace.
[ ] While clients prepare for the photo, if they WON, grab our freebie winner gear and hand out.
[ ] Take their picture as a team with at least one winner/loser sign...keeping it as light as possible (some teams are unhappy they lost) :(
[ ] Remind all teams that we do have shirts available for WINNERS ONLY…while walking to the lockers.
[ ] UNLOCK THE LOCKERS.
[ ] As they leave, remind them that they can find their photos by grabbing the yellow cards by each exit.
[ ] Stay alert to those who may want to purchase a gift shop item.
When Selling a Shirt or Other Goods
[ ] Unlock the iPad mini using code “5555” and open SQUARE, found on the first page.
[ ] HAVE THE EMOJI LANYARD FOR REGISTER KEY.
[ ] Once the card is accepted it will prompt you to grab a signature...flip register and ask the client to sign.
Before Leaving Escape The Space
[ ] Print the team photo and post it to Facebook (if video...Instagram). Limit your post to 3 things…

[ ] Adjust the thermostat to 65 for HEAT in winter or 76 for COOL in summer.
[ ] Turn off all lights, lamps, and TV’s.
[ ] Open all doors to the rooms for air circulation, but leave the Room #4 door towards the utility room closed.
[ ] Ensure ALL 6 exterior doors are pulled shut and secure with light switches by any exterior door off.
[ ] Exit the door closest to the parking lot and lock the door behind you!
