Room Runners work on a *per escape room* basis. Each escape room facilitates a 3 hours shift for the staff. You can often work more than one escape room (example, you may work 1-3 or 3 escapes in a row).
Open the facility (lights & power), check and prep the escape room, check the facility for cleanliness. if/when needed... cleaning can Include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, windex, toilets, dusting, etc. Once done, you prep to meet the escapees at the front door, 15 minutes prior to the escape, with a smile. Once we have welcomed our clients and they have had a chance to enjoy the space...you will facilitate the experience making sure everyone leaves with a smile. (where possible)
Facilitating The Escape: This entails explaining the game to a group of anywhere between 2-20 escapees, locking them into their themed escape room, managing the room for flow and safety from tablets, and being a helper to teams when they are stuck. All with a helpful voice in a chaotic environment. Remember our motto is #CreatingSmiles.
When all is done and they have escaped (hopefully), we post social media pics, print and hang photos, wash blindfolds, sanitize selfies station, reset room(s), and clean up the facility for the next event.
Raises do come promptly for employees who show initiative and exceed our expectations. You start at $9 an hour while training. Within a few weeks...you should be able to run your own escape room. Once you are an actual room runner you will be given a raise. Our staff averages $12 an hour....but again, that’s on you. ✊🏻
